Sport Coaching is a very rewarding area of sport. You will be responsible for the athletic development of individual athletes and teams. Learning about how to effectively coach sport consists of learning the processes of coaching, from beginner, to elite athletes.

Topics you may cover

You will learn about the different aspects that contribute to better performance. This means examining the significance of sport in New Zealand culture and communities and the differences between sport and recreational exercise. It also involves learning about nutrition and managing diet and exercise.

Your studies are likely to include information on the anatomy and physiology – learning about what the human body is made up of and how it moves. This information feeds into study on how to analyse performance. Based on your ability to analyse performance, you will then learn how to develop and deliver sports programmes to people of all competencies and ages.
