Marketing » Overview

Marketing is everywhere - the television adverts we watch, the brands we know, the facebook news we monitor, the shops we go to, the websites we access and the billboards we see.

This subject introduces students to the many dimensions of marketing and demonstrates why the subject is much more than just selling or advertising. You’ll consider product and service development and management, pricing, market research, advertising, sales promotion, distribution and other related areas.

Marketing is about satisfying both the needs of customers and the objectives of organisations in ways that impact positively on society. It is a vital process in the way businesses operate and involves efficient and effective planning and execution of strategies. There is elements of both theory and application within marketing as a subject and encourages both creativity and discipline in its students.
