Forestry » Overview

Have you ever participated in a volunteer tree planting exercise when you were at school? You may already know a thing or two about Forestry.

The study of Forestry combines core science papers with commerce and management, with a focus on natural resources. The main goal of Forestry is to create and implement systems that allow forests to continue a sustainable provision of environmental supplies and services. This involves studying the forestry ecosystems and the operation and underlying economics of the forestry industry.

Skills you will be taught for the working world include, tree felling, health and safety, tree biology, saw maintenance, log selection and pruning.

Forestry courses offer a mixture of practical and theoretical learning. During your study you will spend a large amount of time off campus, practicing your skills in local forests under the supervision of your tutors. Once you have finished your degree you will be ready to enter the working world in a range of careers.
