Solnet Solutions is a leading company in the IT sector in New Zealand. The company provides a range of solutions and services to major corporate and Government organisations and has been a regular employer of graduates for a number of years.

This scholarship aims to encourage academic performance and interest in the area of professional software development and systems integration.

The scholarship is awarded to students in their final year of study towards a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Computer Science of Electronic and Computer Systems), or Bachelor of Engineering (majoring in Electronic and Computer System Engineering, Software Engineering or Network Engineering) at Victoria University.

Each year a successful candidate will be chosen based primarily on academic results and an aptitude for design and development work (applicants must have at least a B grade average).

In addition, candidates must be able to show the following attributes:

  • Study and experience of direct relevance to software development
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

In addition to the financial award, students will be given the opportunity for paid work of between 6 and 8 weeks at Solnet's premises in Wellington.
