Pacific Island Polynesian Scholarship

Massey University offers these undergraduate scholarships to assist Polynesian students from the Pacific Islands to undertake tertiary study. The funds for the scholarship are provided in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, the Pacific Islands Education Foundation and corporate sponsors.

Scholarships are available to students of Cook Islands, Niuean, Tongan, Tokelauan, Samoan or other Pacific Island Polynesian descent who hold New Zealand citizenship, or have or been granted permanent residence in New Zealand. Students must be enrolled for full time study at the Wellington Campus of Massey University.

The scholarships are valued up to $1,000 and are awarded for one year only.

Students who have received other significant scholarships of awards from other sources are not eligible for this scholarship.

Successful applicants will be chosen based on evidence of:

  •     membership of a Pacific Island ethnicgroup
  •     chance of success in the intended programme
  •     financial hardship
