This scholarship was established by FairFax Media in recognition of its commitment to editorial excellence.

The scholarship aims to widen the diversity of reporters within FairFax Media and the wider New Zealand Media.

Scholarship recipients will undergo training for a Diploma or Graduate Diploma in Journalism at one of three institutions - the University of Canterbury, Aoraki Polytechnic in Timaru and Massey University at Wellington.

Please note that applicants who have a relevant tertiary qualification will be preferred, although applicants who have a relevant education of NCEA Level 3 or relevant life skills will also be considered.

The scholarship covers course costs and also provides recipients the opportunity for two years employment with a FairFax publication following completion of the chosen course.
