Bachelor of Engineering with Honours

Holly Ade-Simpson

I’m studying towards a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours at Victoria University of Wellington.

Know your potential

Studying Engineering at Victoria, I'm on the cutting edge of technology. With the skills I learn in class and my own creativity, I can produce software, hardware or even robots that have a huge impact on people's lives.

The lecturers here all have industry experience, they know exactly what you need to know out in the workplace and how to succeed. It's a safe and supportive environment where I can see my ideas come to life and aspire towards big ideas in the future.

Know you’ll be inspired

Technology is something I am really passionate about, it represents all of my interests and my desire to make a difference in the world. Every day, I get to do something I love.

Wellington has a real technology buzz about it, there's lots of cool tech events on—students and young professionals get excited about new pieces of software or the latest gadgets. It's a great feeling when you're in an industry that has a lot of support and interest from the community—you feel like what you're doing is really worthwhile.

Know where to connect

Victoria has a lot of great industry connections. I had the chance to talk to student ambassadors and people from Google when they hosted an event on campus. I was lucky enough to be offered an internship there—I got to use the skills I learnt in class and work with a team of software engineers to develop a Drive app.

Getting hands-on experience has been invaluable. Even though I don't have all the technical knowledge, my studies have taught me where and how to find the answers. Thanks to the opportunities I’ve had to connect with people in the industry, I feel equipped to go out into the workforce and succeed in any team or project.
