Bishop Julius Hall
Bishop Julius Hall is built around an inner courtyard located on the edge of the main UC campus and only a short distance to the College of Education campus. Bishop Julius is only a five-minute walk through the University gardens to the Central Library, lecture theatres and student amenities. The Bush Inn shopping centre and buses are also within easy walking distance. Can fit up to 109 residents.
College House enjoys large and spacious grounds. The property is bounded by two streams and borders the University gardens. Five minutes’ walk from the University campus, College House is close to shops, bus stops and the Christchurch International Airport. College House is New Zealand's oldest and most traditional university college. It retains its traditions with formal dining four nights a week during term when students wear formal dress and academic gowns. It contains 159 residents.
Rochester and Rutherford Hall
Rochester and Rutherford Hall is set in extensive grounds laid out with trees and gardens, and has accommodation for 178 residents in three four-storied blocks. Rochester and Rutherford Hall is large enough to be interesting and small enough for residents to get to know everyone. It is the closest hall to major university buildings, Student Events Centre, Health Centre and Recreation Centre. The local shopping centres are just over ten minutes’ walk away, and the hall is within ten minutes' drive of Christchurch International Airport. Fits up to 178 residents.
University Hall is located on spacious grounds, just a short walk from lectures theatres and other campus facilities. The Hall can accommodate up to 555 residents in catered, single rooms. The hall offers a safe and comfortable transitional year, where students develop in a true hall of residence experience. University Hall takes pride in its Live, Learn, Grow Programme which aims to develop residents into well rounded individuals.
Self-Catered Halls of Residence
Ilam Apartments is a self-catered, fully-furnished apartment-style complex that offers independent living in a supportive environment to students of all ages, at all levels of their academic career, and from all over the world. Meal plans and casual meals are available to residents at University Hall, just a short walk across the Ilam Fields. The apartments are situated next to the lush Ilam Gardens, and offer a safe and secure environment, just five minutes' walk from lecture theatres and other campus facilities. Fits up to 845 residents
Three main apartment types: Manuka, Kowhai or Hinau
The Sonoda Apartments is a small, friendly, self-catered hall of residence, situated within a beautiful garden setting. Residents have the option to purchase meal plans at nearby University Hall. Sonoda is co-located with the University's College of Education on Dovedale Avenue, adjacent to the Ilam Fields, and is a short walk to all other campus facilities.The modern accommodation facilities and Japanese inspired landscaped grounds offer a peaceful atmosphere in which students can live and study. Fits upto 110 full time student residents and 30 part-time or postgraduate student residents.
