The University is like a miniature city designed specially for students, with everything you need all on one site.
University of Canterbury

The University of Canterbury was established in 1873 and has built a strong international reputation for high quality degrees and teaching staff and cutting-edge research. As a result, University of Canterbury programmes are recognised internationally and it is not uncommon to find graduates in top jobs and graduate schools around the world.

All teaching positions at University of Canterbury are research-based. This means that the academic staff in lectures and tutorials are actively involved in research and publishing – they are helping to develop the body of research that are included in your studies.

The University has strong ties with key universities internationally. These links include teaching staff, student exchange programmes and research collaborations.

In addition to a world-class education, the University of Canterbury also offers a multicultural and exciting lifestyle for students. Located in Christchurch, students will experience all that the largest city in the South Island has to offer – cafes, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues and parks. It is also considered to be New Zealand’s most affordable major city – a bonus for those on a student budget!
