What are you studying?

Bachelor of Architectural Studies.

Why did you choose this course?

During my time at high school I always enjoyed art and design. When it came to leaving high school I wanted to be in a field where I was being creative and things were never done the same way twice, so I chose to study Architecture.

What do you enjoy about your course?

I enjoy the structure and style of the course. It was very similar to art classes at school - spending large amounts of time in studios in small groups with a lot of one-on-one time with your tutors. The tutors spend enormous amounts of time talking through your ideas and critiquing your work and their knowledge is immeasurable. To support our learning in studio classes we have theory-based papers in lecture style environments.

What helped you to successfully complete your course?

I think that in order to be successful in completing your course you need to be really interested in what you're studying. Many people rush straight in to a degree when they finish high school, rather than taking the time to look at all the options. Taking the time to find a degree that you're most interested in and best suited to will ensure the successful completion of your degree in the long run.

What advice do you have for future students?

Keep a good balance in your life while studying. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in your course when your workload piles up but it is important to take time for yourself and your family. Maintaining that balance between work and play is really important.
