Nicola Kelland

Agricultural Business Consultant

Opportunities offered within Lincoln University’s Bachelor of Agricultural Science programme to study a wide range of disciplines appealed to Nicola Kelland, from a Mackenzie Country Merino station.

Today, with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree completed with First Class Honours in Wool Science, Nicola is an Agricultural Business Consultant with AgFirst Otago.

“At school at Craighead Diocesan in Timaru, I had a strong interest in science. I also loved the outdoors and loved working on the home farm, which initiated my interest in agriculture.  I wanted to study agriculture at tertiary level so Lincoln University was the obvious choice.  “I really liked the campus and the Agricultural Science programme had great appeal."

“I wanted a degree that would set me up for a wide range of jobs in the agricultural industry. Within the B.Agr.Sc. programme I was able to study a wide range of disciplines including livestock production, genetics, nutrition, soil science, pasture agronomy, seed technology, farm management, wool science and much more.

“Course content was always up to date with the latest research applicable to the industry,  and we went on lots of field trips and field laboratories which reinforced the information we were taught. All this made the courses very relevant and enjoyable."
