I am interested in becoming an electrician, but am a bit foggy on what exactly it is they do.
Can you help clarify this please?
Also, does this require study?
Thanks for your question. Electricians play a vital role in our society & have various roles.
Basically, electricians install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and equipment on a small or a large scale. After completing an apprenticeship and a course of study, they go on to become registered or qualified electricians. They may work closely with builders, carpenters, plumbers, linesmen, home owners and clients. They may work for as a subcontractor, or own their own business.
Electricians are essential to the running of a city. They provide support and advice when faults arise in electrical equipment, or when new structures are installed. Some electricians go on to work for large corporations, or on Government contracts, maintaining and developing the city’s electricity network.
Yes, you will need to complete some course of study after completing your apprenticeship to become a qualified electrician. You can study at many institutions around the country, click here to find out where.
Hope this helps,
