Hi Richard and Poppy,

Im looking at taking doing an architecture degree next year, I've heard it can be quite competitive at vuw. What kind of support can I get if I struggle while studying towards that degree?

Hi Oliver

Great to hear from you.  There is great support available at University, but it does work a little differently to High School.  We have Student Learning, who are responsible for helping students achieve academic success.  To find out more about their workshops and one on one appointments please see http://www.victoria.ac.nz/st_services/slss/

There is also great support for students' health and well being through a number of different services on campus, which we will introduce you to through New Students' Orientation.

Hi there,

I am just curious about accomodation, is it quite expensive to live in the halls in first year, is it worth the money or a better option to find a flat?

Hi Victoria,

A few questions:

- When do you open for applications for next years intake?

- Where can i find out information about the scholarships you offer?

Hi Kate
Thanks for your message.  There are a few options for our first year students with regards to accommodation but we think it is worth living in a halls of residence, especially if you are moving to Wellington to study.  While living in a catered halls of residence, your fees cover food, rent, power and internet and other support services plus it is a very social experience, so you make lots of friends who you might go flatting with in your second year.  Check out more about our accommodation options here http://www.victoria.ac.nz/accommodation/

Hi Victoria,

Wondering if there is a place I can compare and contrast all of the accommodation options you have available for first year students?

Many thanks

Kia Ora,

I'm really wanting to study both technology and business, I'm trying to find the best option that's closer to my hometown, Palmerston North.

I know AUT offer conjoint programmes, just wondering what you guys offer?

At this stage, I want to major in Networks & Security. I am also currently getting my CCNA level 1 and 2 at UCOL as well as NCEA.

I don't mind studying elsewhere than Palmy, just trying to find the closest Uni possible that offer what I want.a

Thanks,

Arni

Hi Blake

A good place to start is with this web page http://www.victoria.ac.nz/accommodation/halls/profiles/index.aspx but we also recommend you come and check them out during our open day on the 26th of August this year.

Hi Taine

From Richard - Get involved in clubs on campus to help make friends and establish a life for yourself in Wellington.

From Poppy - Live a catered halls of residence in your first year.  Moving to a new city is exciting, but there is a lot to think about, so make it easier by living with other new students who are experiencing the same thing.  You also don't have to worry about cooking!
