Hi Catherine

I am currently looking at study options for next year, could you tell me a couple of reasons why Waikato uni is a good option to choose? Im looking at studying Law.

Thanks!

Hi.
I am also interested in studying business and law, but I'm not sure about which school. Auckland uni is huge and Otago is too far from home, so I want to know what makes Waikato special. Thank you

Hi David,

Many thanks for your question.

We have recently opened a new multi million dollar Law building which has great facilities for Law students including a moot courtroom.

Our Law Faculty teaches law that focuses on national and international and multi cultural law. We have small classes so you get to know fellow students and academics very well. The Faculty also run a mentoring programme too.

The law Faculty is especially committed to fostering Maori, Pacific Island and indigenous issues within the context of the treaty of Waitangi partnership.

Law is ranked in the top 150 schools worldwide in the latest QS subject rankings.

We have a number of days "Law Student for a Day" where you can come on campus and find out what it is like to be a students the next ones are 22 June, 31 August, 5 October 2016.

I hope this is useful.

Hi Waikato,

I really like creating events and starting and finishing projects, but I'm struggling to find a way to put this into a career focus. I'm not fully convinced that an event management course will give me enough exposure to other things to get me a good job when I'm finished uni. What things could I study that could help me get better understanding of all business but also get to do project kind of stuff.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Chelsea,

Hopefully some of the points I made in the post to David will help. We have a very good student to teacher ratio, so you get to know your fellow students and the academics very well. At Waikato we pride ourselves on the fact that you are a name not a number.

Let me know if you have further questions

Hi Waikato,

Thanks for hosting this chat.

Just wondering if you could provide me some info on your management degree and how it compares to that of Auckland Universities.

I am trying to decide between AK uni and UOW so any info would be really helpful.

Alice :)

The Waikato Management School is Triple Crown accredited and we offer Bachelors in Business Analysis (Finance), Communication studies, Electronic Commerce, Entrepreneurship, and overall Management studies.

We also have a great balance of Theory and practical based learning which sees a lot of our students gaining internships and other part time jobs through the duration of their study at Waikato

We have over 120 clubs on campus including non sporting activities, Hockey is obviously apart of these teams. We have a wide range of sports from Hockey through to Darts, Chess etc, we even have a beard club Which may not be classified as a sport but to some it maybe.

If sporting is your perogative and you have displayed leadership and outstanding skill you may be eligble for the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship please find attached an application form.

Hi Kate,

The university has lots of sports teams. Including Hockey. We have strong links with Midland Hockey. If you are a very keen sports person and play at a high level you might also be interested in our Hillary Scholarship http://www.waikato.ac.nz/about/hillary/ where you could receive up to $10K per year.

We have a lot of other sports including rugby, cycling, rowing, netball and more, all of which can be played competitively or just for fun.

The university has a gym on campus and also has strong links with the Avantidrome in Cambridge and the Adams Centre for High Performance sport in Tauranga.

Hi Waikato,

Wondering if any of your business subjects / majors offer you the opportunity to form relationships with businesses? I like the idea of a paper requiring you to do an internship / work experience as part of the course.

Taylor.
