SIT - Live Chat

We have smaller classes and offer a practical hands-on approach to learning. We are situated in a small community-oriented, safe city.

We do have girls in our building courses, and they enjoy it and do just as well as the boys do. Invercargill is not really a student city like Dunedin is, but SIT support our students and ensure they get involved in a wide range of activities in the city. You are made to feel welcome and at home.

Hi SIT,

Just wondering if you can tell me about the job opportunities (how easy it is to get a job) in the IT area?

Hi Lindsay, SIT does not have accommodation for domestic students, however there are a number of options available. The IAH Apartment Hotels are available for rent. Normally students spend 3-6 months in one of these apartments and then go flatting.

Be sure to ask SIT any questions you may have about the vast range of opportunities they have available MONDAY 20th June 12:45-1:30pm!

Hi SIT,

I am interested in studying down south, but I'm not sure about moving to somewhere so remote and away from my family.

Does SIT have student accomodation and if so, any specifically for first year students?

Hey Chelsea,

Were you looking at moving to Invercargill, Christchurch or Queenstown? In Queenstown we have our own apartments, these are across the road from the campus. If you are interested in applying for these you can email paul.watts@sit.ac.nz.

In regards to Invercargill we do not have a hall of residence but there are a few options students choose to stay in especially for their first year. For example Ibis Styles is kind of like a mini hall where they place all student in one particular area. Here are other options for you https://www.sit.ac.nz/Students/Accommodation

Thanks, SIT

Hi SIT,

Do you have any project or event management kind of courses? And if you do do you have anything that I can do alongside other courses to get more business exposure without adding too much extra time to my study.

Thank you

Hi Paige

Were you looking at onsite or distance learning? We offer some Event Management papers as part of our Bachelor of Hotel Management course onsite in Invercargill.

For distance learning we offer the Bachelor of Applied Management where you can major in either Event Management or Project Management. There are also Graduate Certificates and Diploma in both Event Management and Project Management. If you already have an undergraduate degree the graduate certificate/diploma is a great way to study online and complete the course in 6months or 1 year full time study, there are part-time options available.

Thanks, SIT

I am looking to study accounting through distance learning. Does SIT offer this? How successful are distance learning options, does it generally have a good pass rate.

Im just trying to decide whether distance learning is a good option for me.

Hi Ashton,

What course are you looking at? Each course have different intakes and start dates depending on whether you are looking at onsite or distance learning.

Thanks, SIT

Hi Olivia

Unfortunately we do not offer accounting through distance learning we only offer this onsite through our Bachelor of Commerce.

We offer a Bachelor of Applied Management through distance learning with different majors if you were interested.

Thanks, SIT
