Hi Jan,
I am a bit unsure about what I want to do when I finish school, do I need to have any medical study/experience before studying to become a chiropractor ?
Hi Amelia
The short answer is no. We are a 5 year bachelor degree. The first year can be done at several different universities which cover our specific first year health sciences. We advise students to take chemistry, biology, and physics in high school but this isn't mandatory. A passion for helping people and health is just as important.
Hi Jan,
My strengths and interests at school are maths and science (them and bio particularly). Do you think Chiro would suit me if I have a passion for these?
Thanks
Ok great! Is there much in terms of support in getting a job after you finish your chiropractic degree?
Hi Sarah
If your passion is for health science then I would say yes. Chiropractic is a fantastic profession. It is very hands on working with all types of people from babies to the elderly to athletes, even animals if you choose.
Can you explain exactly what chiropractic is and what kinds of things you cover in the degree? I can't quite get my head around it. Thanks
Hi,
Is it really hard to get into NZ College of Chiro? I have heard its very competitive
Hi Caitlin
Yes it is competitive. We have one intake per year and we offer enrolment to 70 students. We are one of the best chiropractic colleges in the world and about 94% of our students have jobs lined up before graduating. We aniticipate a waiting list for 2017 but we never know until we get there.
What other courses apart from chiropractic do you offer?
Hi
The purpose of chiropractic is to help people reach and maintain excellent health and wellbeing through the care of the spine and nerve system. The nerve system runs the whole body. The body has the ability to heal itself and work optimally if there is no interference between the brain and the nerve system. Does that make sense? Chiropractors are the only profession to be specifically trained in locating what we call a subluxation and making very specific adjustments to the spine to clear the subluxation. The degree covers all the techniques of chiropractic as well as nutrition, psychology, business, xray and more. Please check out website for more information. Meanwhile I am happy to answer all questions I can.

We are strictly a chiropractic college.
Hi - over 94% of our graduates have jobs before actually completing their degree. The opportunities are vast.
Hi Jan,
Can I apply straight out of school?
Sorry - none - just a Bachelor of Chiropractic
Hi,
How long does this degree take? Is it internationally recognised?
Thanks
Hi Dylan
Yes we encourage you to apply to us any time during your year 13. If you go to AUT, where we have a specific diploma in applied science that covers all of our prerequisites, you will need a letter from us in order to enrol in this diploma. Then we stay in touch throughout your studies at AUT. Once you complete the diploma as well as a couple other admission requirements; ie, interview etc, then we offer enrolment to those who qualify.
What is your class size?
Do you have lectures as well as tutorials?
Hi Morgan
There is one year of prerequisites, consisting of specific first year health science courses. Then you spend 4 years with us. You start hands on technique in your first day of the first week of classes. Yes we are internationally recognised. We are CCEA and NZQA accredited. You can practise in Australia with out doing any further boards. Some other countries may require you to pass their boards. We have graduates practising all over the world; Canada, Singapore, Australia, UK, Ireland and more.
