Thats great thanks for your answer. I feel like networking is something I am good at although I don't exactly have the experience to show that. I am very interested in social media and have a decent following through my youtube channel and other platforms. What would Deloitte think of this if I were to apply for a job later on?

Ive heard that accounting companies are accepting engineering graduates now. What would an engineering person do at deloitte though?

Hi Laura,

Does Deloitte offer any roles outside of accounting?

Would love to work for Deloitte but not interested in Accounting. I have more of a passion for engineering and IT.

Thanks

Hi Jim,

Good news we have positions for someone like you!

Thanks for your question, yes we recruit graduates and interns for more than accounting, we look for graduates for our Consulting team, they cover Strategy and Operations, Technology, Human Capital and Digital design and use. We also hire students for Risk consulting, this includes; cyber security and privacy, data analytics and general technology risk. We hire into Tax and students often have studied law. We have plenty of students who have studied engineering and are passionate about technology and/or have studied this go into positions in both risk advisory and consulting.

You can watch some of youtube videos to see the background of students who have joined our teams.

Yes mention all of this on your application, we love to see people doing things in their spare time that indicates they can network and understand technology and how to utilise this to create a following. I'd attach a link on my CV and include this as an interest if you feel its appropriate for an employer to review.

How many people does Deloitte hire? And do you only hire the people with best grades at uni?

Hi Emma W,

We hire approximately 150+ students for interns and graduate positions nationally every year. This fluctuates with our business needs.

We do look at academic achievement, this is important, but we like to look at other areas too which we feel can make a candidate well rounded. So if you don't have top marks but you have a lot of extra-curricular group / team experience and work experience this means a lot to us too, it shows us you can work within a team, network, communicate, put yourself out there. Top academics doesn't indicate you will be able to work alongside our clients in isolation.

In saying that we do need students to have a certain level of achievement in their studies, generally this is around a B+ GPA average or better.

Hope that helps,

Laura

Hi Ashleigh,

You definitely don't have to be an extrovert to succeed at Deloitte! Its important to be able to communicate both verbally and in writing but we like having a mixture of people here and introverts certainly work here and succeed! As long as you can hold your own with a client and work in a team based environment we will help develop people that work with us to get the best out of them. You do need to be able to present yourself well at interview, but this just means practice before you come in and this will make the process more comfortable for you. Everyone's usually nervous when it comes to interviewing it doesn't matter whether you are an introvert or extrovert.

Thanks,

Laura
