Hi CHH,

I am really interested in hard technology and am quite good with maths. I have looked into your company and am quite interested in working for you in the future. I am not looking at going to university. Would there be any opportunities for me to work for you following school?

Thanks

Tracey from Recruitment team - There are entry level roles in our Operations teams which are situated around the country in Northland, Central North Island and Nelson regions. These are the Saw Mill Operations.

Usually we are looking for NCEA level 1 or more with some mathematical, pre- trades or mechancial studies or interests. Your attitude and work ethic is important to us too.

Thanks for your question.

Hi Peter,

Some part time work experience would be great, such as a job during school.

For entry level positions we look at your mechancial aptitude and what your interests and hobbies are such as tinkering with cars, helping someone with machinery or some pre trades studies or interest.

It's also about your mathematical aptitude and an interest in working with your hands.

Thanks

Hi Carter Holt Harvey,

I am just wondering what kinds of roles you have available for university graduates in the Business & Commerce area?

Thanks

Thanks Hi Ngatiri,

May I clarify, do you mean hard materials, such as metals? Or could you please explain hard technology thanks. We definitely have positions at our Mills for students who wish to work after school instead of going to university. If you can let me know then I can comment further.

What kind of roles do you have in your team for people who have studied environment sciences degrees/diplomas?

Thanks for your question Emily.

We usually look for someone who has completed their degree and then has a couple of years work experience in the finance field, or has been working with a chartered accountancy for a couple of years and is working towards their CA.

It is unusual for us to take a graduate in this area without some experience. We do offer good training and devlopment once you join us however we don't offer a specific graduate programme in this area.

Good luck with your studies

Hi Barrett

This is quite a specialised area, it depends on the focus you want to take your career. We don't offer a graduate programme in this disclipline and often people with that sort of background may have achieved other work experience before joining our company.

We have some select Quality and Health and Safety roles that may be aligned to aspects of this degree. These are really important parts of the CHH Wood Products business.

Good luck with your studies.

What kind of hours would you work in a sawmill? Is it shift work and would you have to work night shifts?

Hi Jason,

Usually a standard working week for the Operations team would be 42 hours per week. Most of the Production happens between Monday and Friday, with different Mills having different days for maintenance work. Usually you would work 4 10.5 hours days and / or nights. Some Mills operate day shift only and others are combined day and night shift, others are Monday to Friday. It depends on the specific Mill so there are variations on what I have mentioned above.

In some of our operations there is the opportunity for overtime if desired or required, and some weekend work.

This is the basic information that I can share with you, I hope it helps.

Cheers

Tracey
