Susan Chu

Recruitment Consultant

Susan joined SKYCITY in 2010 and works alongside managers, sourcing the right people to fill job vacancies across the Auckland business.  Born and raised in Auckland, Susan attended Onehunga High School.  “I worked part-time all the way through school, mostly in retail, and didn't have a clue idea what career path I’d take.  My parents wanted me to get a degree, but they didn't have any expectation of what I'd study."

After graduating from AUT with a Bachelor of Business (double major in Marketing & Management), Susan identified Human Resources as a career option.  A role within an internal recruitment team for a large NZ business was her first full-time job. 

“I initially saw recruitment as an entry step into HR but I ended up really enjoying it because I’m quite inquisitive, I like structure, and I like interacting with people from all walks of life.  It’s a job that gives you a strong understanding of how businesses tick and you develop strong relationship building, decision making and influencing abilities.  Essential skills no matter which career you choose.”

What does Susan enjoy about SKYCITY?  “We’re a large, diverse, dynamic business, so there’s always something to be done and there’s never a dull moment.  It’s a fast-paced, pressured job, but also really rewarding."
