CV and Cover Letter Template

Your CV is often your first point of contact with a potential employer. To help you score that first job, we've put together a CV template that you can work from to build a great application.

Here a few tips for writing your CV

• Keep it neat and tidy. A bit of design or creative flair is great as long as the text is easily readable and the page isn't too busy.

• Try to keep your CV down to two pages. Any longer than this and you should reconsider what you are including in it. Remember to keep it succinct and to the point.

• Think of your CV as a fact sheet about you, and your cover letter as your actual application. When writing your cover letter, try to convince the employer why you would be best for the role. What do you think they want from someone and what can you offer?

• Get someone to double check your CV and cover letter for any spelling or grammatical errors. If an employer spots one, they could cost you an interview!

• Make sure you include your contact details on your CV, however you don't need to tell the employer your age, gender or ethnicity if you do not want to.

• If you are sending your application digitally, save your CV and cover letter as PDFs. PDFs are easier to view and means no one can alter your application.

• Keep your CV updated regularly and tailor each application to the role you are applying for.
