Winemaker

Winemakers make wine from grapes and other fruit. They discuss fruit quality and quantity with grape growers (viticulturists) throughout the growing season and work closely with the vineyard to ensure the grapes are up to the right standard required. They develop new wine styles and work to improve the wine quality. They are involved in many different parts of the winemaking, including processing the grapes, controlling fermentation and adjusting the ingredients as needed. They may sell and market the wine, as well as the fun part – taste testing! Wine makers are experts in the different types of wine and the process of making a new vintage. They work indoors and outside in vineyards, alongside labourers, sales people, growers, suppliers and customers.
