Radiation Therapist

Radiation therapists are part of a team that uses radiation equipment to treat diseases, mostly cancers, in patients. Radiation therapists are health professionals, but they do not need a medical degree. In most cases, a patient will be prescribed radiation by their oncologist (type of doctor that specialises in the treatment of cancer). The therapist is responsible for planning and administering the patient’s course of treatment. Treatment varies depending on the type and extent of the cancer. The therapist may need to adjust treatment depending on the patient’s reaction.
