Physicist » Overview

Physicists explore the relationship between matter and energy, and pursue its theoretical and commercial applications. There are many different areas within the field of physics, ranging from small particle physics to large cosmology – the study of the universe. Physics is a highly specialised field, and in order to become a physicist you will need to complete postgraduate studies at university in the area you want to specialise in.

Physicists typically find work in one of three sectors: government agencies, private firms, and universities. Work is also commonly split between research and product development.
