Meteorologist » Overview

Meteorologists study and interpret global, regional and local patterns in atmospheric and weather information to help them make short and long-range weather forecasts. But, the weather forecasts that we see on the media are only a small aspect of what a meteorologist actually does. For example, using highly specialized equipment, they can study past, present and future weather patterns and discern how these impact upon global warming. Did you know that changes in atmospheric conditions have caused the polar ice caps to melt, which results in the release greenhouse gasses that further alter atmospheric conditions? We wouldn’t about this cyclic process of global warming if meteorologists hadn’t studied it!
