Merchandise managers buy and arrange products in-store to maximise sales. Depending on the size of the company, this may involve a single store or across a chain of related facilities/brands. The two key skills required of anyone wanting to be come a merchandise manager are organisation and leadership. Merchandise managers need to ensure that products are ordered and delivered on time. They must also coordinate all stores within the company to determine whether stores are meeting their sales goals. Because they will have to work with various store managers and employees, merchandise managers need to have good leadership abilities.
