Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical engineers design and give advice on the building and repair of machines and tools. They also investigate problems and faults with machinery, and study ways to improve manufacturing and energy production. The work of a mechanical engineer spans many different industries. However, they are primarily concerned with the design, construction and installation of the mechanical devices that make life easier. For example, a mechanical engineer may be involved with designing and constructing the heating, cooling and ventilation systems of commercial, public and private buildings. This might involve making sure that the placement of equipment, ducts and vents is correct and efficient.

Mechanical engineers are also involved with product development. How can they redesign or refine an existing product or machine to make it more efficient and easier to use? Or, they may work for a manufacturing company to improve the processes used to make products. This can result in savings for the company, as well as the end user.
