Licensed Auctioneer

Licensed auctioneers take charge of public or private auctions. They sell goods, property or livestock on behalf of the owner (or vendor) to people offering the highest price. When most people think of an auctioneer, they tend to imagine a fast-talking sales-person who whips buyers up into a frenzy. However, most of an auctioneer’s work is done before sale day. Responsibilities include finding clients and building relationships, studying the market and determining the best way to advertise a sale, and appraising items to be sold. An auctioneer’s main priority is simple – make as much money as possible for the client. Successful auctioneers are both salespeople and entertainers; they must be able to hold a crowd’s attention for the duration of the auction.
