Legal Executive

Legal executives carry out a variety of legal tasks for law firms and organisations such as government departments, local authorities and financial institutes. They also provide legal advice to clients under the supervision of a qualified lawyer. Legal executives cannot represent people in court, but they often assist a representing lawyer by performing legal research that will help support arguments in a court setting. A legal assistant may work in any area of law and, with work experience, chose to specialise in a particular area. For example, a legal executive working in family law will become skilled in drafting documents relating to adoption, divorce, custody and pre-nuptial agreements.
