Insurance Representative

Insurance representatives sell insurance policies to companies and individuals to protect them financially from risks such as death, fire and theft. They may also deal with superannuation, income protection and other savings products.

Customers are required to make regular payments (called premiums) to the insurance company, and it is part of an insurance representative's job to ensure that their customers are making these payments. This may involve sending out letters to customers reminding them of an impending payment, or notifying them of proposed rate changes.

A successful insurance representative is also likely to keep track of any new developments in their client’s lives. For example, have they bought a new home? Is a teenage child newly eligible to drive? If so, the customer may require new terms in their insurance coverage.
