Insurance Claims Officer/Loss Adjuster

Insurance claims officers decide whether an insurance company will settle a claim and manage the claim through to payment. They are the first point of contact for customers wanting to file a claim. Therefore, claims officers need to be able to provide excellent customer service, as well as being able to process and resolve clams requests. Customer service involves answering incoming calls, emails and letters, reviewing the information provided by customers and determining whether the claim is covered.

Alternatively, insurance loss adjusters act as mediators between insurers and claimants when insurance claims are made. This involves examining an insurance claim to determining whether it is covered by an insurance policy and recommending a payout to settle the claim. Loss adjusters work for insurance companies to minimise the payout.
