Home Aide

Home aides visit people in the community. They do general housework and help care for people in their homes. People who use their services include people with disabilities, the elderly, families with young children and those who need in-home assistance on a daily basis. Sometimes home aides may be required to stay at a client’s house or to take their clients to other locations, such as supermarkets or social events. Home aides can be trained professionals or they may be unskilled workers. They may work indoors or outdoors, depending on what the client requires and may work alone with their clients, or as part of a caring team, alongside nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, parents and other caregivers. Being a home aide can be very rewarding, as you may be called upon to help vulnerable people in society to lead more productive lives.
