Health Promoter

Health promoters work with communities and groups to plan and develop ways to help people improve and manage their health. They also work with government and other agencies to improve environmental conditions that contribute to ill health. They may work for an organisation or visit groups or schools and speak in public on different health issues, such as sexual health or disease prevention. Health promoters work indoors and  outdoors, promoting safe and healthy practices. Sometimes they may be required to talk to large groups or to give presentations to organisations.

They work alongside doctors, teachers, administrators, community workers and for government and community health organisations or charities, such as the heart foundation or health advocacy groups. They may develop advertising or school campaigns about health and safety practices and liaise with the media on issues such as smoking and drug abuse.
