Glass Processor » Overview

Glass Processor

Glass processors process sheets of flat glass and flat glass products, such as windows, for installation in buildings and related structures. They process the raw edges of the glass (edgework) and drill holes and make cut-outs in splashbacks (for power points). They use specialised tools and equipment to modify glass for their customers for different purposes. Some glass processors work with used glass to recycle it and get it ready for another use. Most of the work glass processors do is indoors in a glass processing plant or factory. Sometimes they may be required to work outdoors as well, transporting materials. They work alongside factory workers, supervisors and sometimes clients. They wear special safety gear, as working with glass and other materials can be hazardous. They are very safety conscious and able to work with their hands. They deal with heat, chemicals and glass on a daily basis.
