Freight Forwarder

Freight forwarders deal with arranging the national and international movement of goods for a third party. They find the most appropriate and cost-effective way of moving goods, and co-ordinate and keep records of the arrangements. A freight forwarder may work as an independent contractor, or work for a shipping company.

Freight forwarders deal with the transport of small, personal shipments for individuals or small companies, the transport of large shipping containers for commercial firms, and everything in between.

People use the services of freight forwards for a number of reasons, but the main reason is to take advantage of freight forwarders ability to negotiate the best shipping rates.  Freight forwarders typically have strong contacts within the industry and may be offered services that are not available to the general public.
