Forensic Scientist

Forensic scientists apply scientific knowledge and skills to investigating crimes. The information they provide may help the police to find or eliminate a suspect in a crime. Forensic scientists often specialise in a specific area, such as DNA analysis, firearms, toxicology, document analysis and so on. Forensic scientists are constantly learning, making sure that they keep up to date with their field of specialisation as the field advances.

Forensic scientists may work in the field at crime scenes, in a crime laboratory, a hospital or university. Depending on where and who they work for, a forensic scientist may be ‘on-call’ and required to report to work at any time when their skills are required.
