Fitness instructors help people to improve their general fitness or train for special events through individual programmes or classes. In order to be a good fitness instructor, you need to be able to motivate and communicate well with people. This involves motivating clients to reach achievable, and mutually agreed upon fitness-related goals. As well as having in depth knowledge of exercise and nutrition, fitness instructors need a good understanding of human behaviour and how to inspire different personality types. Why do people develop unhealthy lifestyle habits? How can these habits be corrected? Fitness instructors generally assess clients’ needs and goals on an individual basis, identify any problem areas and determine eating habits. Based on this information, the instructor will make recommendations and create a fitness programme.
