Family Lawyer » Entry Pathways

In order to become a family lawyer you will need at least a Bachelor of Laws. You may also find it helpful to undertake study in Psychology. A conjoint degree would be a good way to go about this.

After gaining your degree/s you must complete a Professional Legal Studies course to be admitted to the roll of Barristers and Solicitors of the High Court of New Zealand. This enables you to legally practice law. Oftentimes, Law graduates will study for and complete the Professionals course while working.
