  • serve customers at the counter

  • inspect items for stains, and spot-clean as required
  • load, check and start the dry-cleaning machine
  • steam-press items
  • repair and alter clothing
  • keep the work area clean and tidy
  • deliver items to businesses or private homes
  • do the banking and other bookkeeping tasks.

Dry cleaners need to have

  • knowledge of different fabric types and how to care for them
  • knowledge of chemicals and stain removers
  • skill in operating dry-cleaning machines
  • expertise in garment mending and alterations
  • problem-solving and time management skills
  • good communiction skills.

Dry-cleaners need to be

  • practical  and methodical
  • able to pay attention to detail
  • careful and responsible.
