Dental Technician

Dental technicians create and repair devices for the treatment, replacement and protection of damaged, badly positioned or missing teeth. Dental technicians work from a mould of a client’s mouth made by a dentist or a clinical dental technician, and custom-make a wide range of fittings for the mouth, including dentures, crowns and moulded plates and mouth guards. They are skilled at working with their hands, usually indoors, using a variety of specialised tools and equipment. They may be called upon to assist with cosmetic procedures, working with the dentist, orthodontist or cosmetic surgeon to create custom fittings and appliances for patients. They may work alongside dentists, dental hygienists, patients and other people in the dental industry. They may work for a company, assist with designing and engineering products or work for themselves, running their own business.
