Clinical Psychologist

Clinical psychologists assess, diagnose and treat mental disorders. They examine people’s behaviours and provide treatment to minimise or prevent mental health problems. Although clinical psychologists work in clinical settings, they are not medical doctors and do not prescribe medication. Instead, clinical psychologists are trained in a range of techniques and theoretical approaches that are design to treat disorders.

Clinical psychologists may choose to specialise in a certain area such as child mental health, adult mental health, learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, substance abuse, geriatrics and health psychology.
