Cashier » Overview

Cashiers are responsible for directly handling monetary transactions. They can work in many different kinds of businesses, such as restaurants, currency exchanges, casinos, supermarkets or banks. The role will vary accordingly, but will maintain the common aspect of handling money and currency. For example, a cashier working in a shop will add up a person’s bill and take payment. Alternatively, cashiers working in a bank, sometimes referred to as bank tellers, are responsible for taking deposits and dealing with customer withdrawals. Accuracy and trustworthiness are two key characteristics that employers are looking for in cashiering staff.
