Car salespeople sell new or used cars, trucks, and other vehicles. A car salesperson is likely to spend their time outdoors in the caryard and in the office with customers. The responsibilities for a car salesperson vary depending on their employer and the size of the company. For example, they may prepare vehicles for sale, organise security for the vehicles, and clean and price vehicles. They may also be required to drive cars between yards, or help customers with test-driving potential purchases. It is the salespersons role to help customers make the right choice with their car purchase, to find the best fit for their needs, and to advise on finance options and pricing.

Car salespeople need an interest in cars and passion for working in a retail environment. This requires excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers. A good car salesperson is interested in vehicles and takes joy in helping people to purchase a vehicle that meets their needs.
