Audiometrist » Overview

Audiometrists specialize in the non-medical assessment and management of communication difficulties by hearing loss. They conduct hearing assessments, fit hearing aids and assist people with impaired hearing. Hearing assessments involve a person wearing headphones, usually while sitting in a booth. The audiometrist will transmit tones and vibrations through the headphones, adjusting the volume. The person presses a button each time they hear a tone. Each ear is tested separately to determine a person’s hearing ability.
