Architect » Overview

Architects plan, design and advise on the construction and alteration of buildings. In fact, any building that is used by people is likely to have been designed by an architect. For example, churches, train stations, schools, skyscrapers, hotels, hospitals and houses. For this reason, architects have to keep in mind what the building will be use for prior to drawing up their design. Aside from looking nice, the building should be able to be used efficiently by everyone who walks through the doors.

Architects are an integral part of the building process – their design is essentially a plan for the construction company. Architects may also arrange building contracts and usually closely supervise the construction company to make sure that the building is built according to plan.
