Animator » Overview

Animators create a sense of movement from still images or models. Animators can work with drawings, as the original Disney animators did or they can work clay figurines, like in the Wallace and Gromit films. Alternatively, computer animators grate digital animations using modelling software. Regardless of their area of specialisation, animators need extensive computer skill to create the appearance of movement for both 2D and 3D graphics. They must also be able to visualise characters and scenes, in order to create realistic visual graphics.

Animators often work in the video game industry, where it is not uncommon for a whole team of animators to work on developing an interactive game. However, most animators work in the film and television industry.
