Ambulance officers attend to ill and injured people at accident sites or in medical emergencies, and transport them to hospitals or other medical facilities. They also transport patients between hospitals and from homes to hospitals. They are trained to respond to emergency situations are perform life-saving techniques until a patient can be transported to a hospital for further care.

Ambulance officers usually work from their ambulance with one or two partners. They receive instructions via radio from a dispatcher who gives them the location of emergency situations and the type of illnesses or injuries present.
